Female Summer Camp Horse Staff

Position: Horse Staff + Instructors
Location: Mt. Gilead Camp, Pocono Mountains, PA

Target Candidates: High School Students, College Students, & Post-Graduate Professionals

The Heart of the Ministry
At Mt. Gilead, our horses aren't just animals—they are partners in ministry. We believe the bond between a girl and a horse provides a unique window into understanding God’s love, patience, and leadership. We are seeking dedicated equestrians who love both "the stable and the student" to join our summer horsemanship team.

Your Role & Responsibilities
This is a hands-on role that balances rigorous barn management with high-impact teaching. Your daily "to-do" list will include:

Instruction & Safety: Leading daily arena lessons and trail rides for girls ages 6–16, ensuring a safe, encouraging environment for all skill levels.

Equine Care & Husbandry: Overseeing the daily health and wellness of our herd, including feeding, grooming, tacking, and basic first aid.

Barn Management: Maintaining a clean, organized stable and tack room—teaching campers the "work" of horsemanship as much as the "ride."

Spiritual Mentorship: Using time on the trails or in the barn to facilitate deep conversations, devotions, and reflections on faith and character.

Program Development: Assisting in the planning of "Horse Shows" or special awards ceremonies to celebrate camper progress.

Qualifications
Experience: A solid background in English or Western riding and a comfort level handling multiple horses in a camp setting.

Heart for Service: A desire to serve others "one girl at a time" and a willingness to perform the unglamorous (but essential) tasks of barn life.

Availability: Positions are open to High School students (16+), College students, and Post-graduates looking for a seasonal ministry impact.
